The dosa chronicles

I present you the Paper Plain Dosa
dosa
It has been my fervent desire to sample all kinds of dosas before I die and I'm plodding my way across the south to accomplish this goal :)
This specimen is from New Shanti Sagar chain in Jayanagar 3rd block (which is the mecca for veggie food-lovers)! It was nearly 3.5 times the size of a regular plain dosa, and was crispy like potato chips! Accompaniments included coconut chutney, sagoo and slight;y sweetish udupi style sambhar. Yummmmy, thinking of it sets off the barely supressed hunger signals in me :D

ommgggg you're torturing me. lately i've been craving some good old south indian food. i usually get good north indian food here but south indian food is kinda lacking. until i go home i'm going to have soggy dosas. i am usually not a sambhar person (imagine, my entire family would have IV's inserted that drip with sambhar if they could but i am not a fan) but sometimes... when you've not had good south indian food for say a year... it gets tough.

Aww you poor girl, that seriously is a minus in any place out of south India, the lack of all those yummy dishes we take for granted! Oh I (and my grandpa, my nanajee) loooove dal/sambhar like crazy! We'd have it IVed to our body too, if possible. When we make dal we have to make double so that the rice can be fully submerged in half an inch of dal! If you're planning to come here in India lets meet :)

do you have ANY IDEA what this pic made me do?

i saw this pic and for 2 or 3 days i was craving dosa. then i couldnt bear it anymore and fled to the bet south indian restaurant around me. i got my semi soggy semi decent dosa, ate it, and was very very sad. it's sooooooooooooooo not the same as in india.

i'm going to be visiting the boyfriend in bangalore after my comps so we should definitely meet up.
