Can you identify the plant?

This was lovely plant, with small green leaves with cream colouring (I bought it along with a Coleus plant). 2 days in the sun, and I kept it in the balcony and it totally fried the plant. Poor thing, I felt very, very bad. I thought maybe keeping it inside the house, near the window would help, but for a few days it looked like nothing could go, the plant was *dead*. But lo behold! Last week I see these small, lovely delicate lime green leaves and I rejoiced that I hadn't really killed the plant! Now I water it twice everyday and it flourishes well inside..in fact, right next the dressing table..

Can anyone tell me what's the plants name?

How to: Store your lipsticks

Continuing the series for How to...?, I present you the disk-case lip holder. Similar to concept in the cigarette holder, this does a good job in keeping my lippies in one place, and I remember all the shades that are in each, so easy to find in the morning!

See, you can use things around the house for make-up storage!

Pink/Gold EOTD

So this was what I did at home, down with cold and fever :( I'm better now, though.
This look's based on Temptalia's look Springy Eye, of course, it didn't turn up quite the same.
I used gold pigment (no base) on the lid, gold on inner 1/3rd, light pink on middle, dark pink on outer 1/3rd, violet on crease and very light pink with shimmer on the brow. No eyeliner, I forgot, sheesh.

This is the breakdown for the look, hope it helps Amita. :)

And then there was light!

So this is part of the very gradual (emphasis on the gradual) home deco improvement that we have planned for our flat. This is part 1 of the LIGHT series, we've bought some nice lights (or fixtures) for the hall and the dining area. The hub was very confident about putting up of the lights atleast, and he did a great job at it!
Here's what the light looks like, remember, it is atleast 4 feet above my head!

A tea-light design with a 60w screw-type bulb in it, sufficient for the dining hall.
Coming up next - the living room lights.

The dosa chronicles

I present you the Paper Plain Dosa
dosa
It has been my fervent desire to sample all kinds of dosas before I die and I'm plodding my way across the south to accomplish this goal :)
This specimen is from New Shanti Sagar chain in Jayanagar 3rd block (which is the mecca for veggie food-lovers)! It was nearly 3.5 times the size of a regular plain dosa, and was crispy like potato chips! Accompaniments included coconut chutney, sagoo and slight;y sweetish udupi style sambhar. Yummmmy, thinking of it sets off the barely supressed hunger signals in me :D

How to make a tray out of a magazine

Here's my humble attempt at making a tray out of a magazine front cover! I'll load all the pics and detailed tutorial tomorrow, so watch this space. Well, not all the time, you can look away sometimes. But, you have to come back, okies?
From this:

To this:

So, here goes: click on the link below to read the step-by-step instructions with colour pictures! Heh.

1. All you need is a thick sheet, similar to the thickness of a greeting card, a pencil or pen, a ruler (or any straight edged stick or a pencil), white adhesive, and finally a pair of scissors.

2. I used the front page cover of the Marie Claire magazine (it’s thick, glossy and pretty!) or any sheet within the magazine, preferably glossy. Photobucket
3. The rectangular page needs to be cut into a square, the easiest way to do that is to gently fold the shorter edge along the longer edge diagonally and then cut away the remaining strip at the edge of the paper! Photobucket Or you could bring out the foreman ruler and measure a perfect square, if that’s what makes you happier. We lost a bit of Aishwarya’s chin here – instant face lift! Photobucket
4. Lightly fold (to crease) the resultant square into half length wise (or width wise, it won’t make a difference, it is a square, heh) Photobucket
5. Crease the other half now, so that you have 4 neat squares just lightly creased. Neater and more patient people can just divide the sheet into 16 equal squares and escape the crease-fest. Photobucket You are left with 4 squares and, in my case, Aish’s eyes glaring at you for creasing her face. Photobucket
6. Crease the left half in half again, and do the same with the right half. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
7. Crease the top half and the bottom half in half again, resulting in 16 creased squares! You don’t have to count, I did it for you  Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
8. Mark the intersecting points (like in the picture). Imagine having to poke out Aishwarya’s eye and hoping for some emotion to reflect on her face. Photobucket
9. Draw 4 lines from the edge of the paper until the intersecting points (using the ruler or straight edged object). These are the lines you will cut using the scissors. Photobucket Photobucket
10. Now fold the paper such that the cut squares look something akin to ear flaps. Photobucket Photobucket
11. Apply the adhesive on the longer rectangular flap, such that the outer edge of the flap will stick to the ear-flap thingies. Photobucket
12. Press the flaps together and make sure all the glue covers the surface. Photobucket Photobucket This is what it looks like now Photobucket
13. Patience now, one side is ready, Photobucket do the same to the other side so it does not feel neglected. (I actually glued the flaps on the outer edge of the larger flap, thus resulting in 2 different looking edges, but please, just ignore that) Photobucket Photobucket
14. Press the glued surfaces nicely so the adhesive can do its job. Photobucket
15. Voila! Your colourful odds-and-ends box is ready to be used! Photobucket Back view – Carla Bruni’s face! Photobucket
16. I used the box to store the hub’s watches, my bracelets and scrunchies, however it can be used it for anything you like! Photobucket Photobucket
17. Items used: Photobucket

Next up: Lipstick and Floppy disks (remember those 3 and quarter inches disks we used on the PC) Yes, I am that old. Ahem, floppy disks and lipsticks, what do they have to do with each other?!
